Golf is like writing: the glorious pursuit of unattainable perfection.

Weird Golf

We shouldn’t take golf too seriously, so I penned these 18 stories about the game, the people, and the creatures who play it. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even throw up your dinner, but Weird Golf will make you think twice about teeing it up at twilight.

Dave DonelsonI caught the golf bug early in life as a 12-year-old caddie at Fairview Golf Course, a ragged muni just three blocks from my home in St. Joseph, Mo.  Like all golfers, I’ve reveled in the game and cursed it, celebrated the small victory of an all-too-infrequent perfect shot and raged against the golf gods who often flicked a birdie putt off-line just inches from the hole.  My love for the game led me to my favorite long-term assignment: executive editor of the Westchester / Hudson Valley Magazine Golf Guide.  These clips appeared in that publication.
