Fairway Living Dream Home

Fairway Living Magazine
Summer, 2008

by Dave Donelson

What better place to indulge your passion for golf and desire for fine living than atop a mountain peak?  That’s where you’ll find the Fairway Living Dream Golf Home, sited in Waterfall at Mount Burton, a pristine mountain community in northeast Georgia.

“This is one of those homes where you have to see the views,” says builder Sean Harrington of BenchCraft Homes.  “The home is beautiful, the neighborhood is outstanding.  When you put it all together, it’s an unbelievable picture.”

The home is a golfer’s dream, with every amenity you can imagine as well as a spectacularly scenic location where the Blue Ridge Mountains begin.  The home is literally sited on a mountain peak with views up to 75 miles, according to Harrington.  The view closer to home is spectacular, too, with a Scoot Pool-designed course that was named along with Augusta National as one of the five “Best of the Best” private golf courses in Georgia.  A special treat on every round is when you tee off over a waterfall to the green 200 feet below on the 165-yard par-3 third hole.

This golfer’s Dream Home offers over 7,500 square feet of living space on two levels, with four bedrooms, six baths, and amenities found on every golfer’s wish list.  Harrington says, “Throughout the house, it’s tastefully golf themed.  The home is completely furnished and decorated, including one large tapestry with a classic golf scene.”

But the home has more than just good looks, especially for the golfer.  When you’re not on the course, you’ll hone your short game on the 1,000-square foot natural practice green (an artificial surface will be installed on request), then come inside to play the world’s most famous courses on your own room-size golf simulator.  Tone your body in the fitness room, then step into the nearby sauna to unwind.

Need a little more relaxation?  Invite your foursome over for a cold one in your own Irish pub-themed bar on the terrace level or visit the 1,000-bottle wine cellar.  The billiards room is just across the hall, right next to the 360-sq. ft. recreation room.  Just outside on the terrace level are a covered porch, a separate outdoor seating area with fireplace, and a complete outdoor kitchen.  There are also two generous bedrooms and three baths on this floor.

Take the elevator to the main level, where gracious living with a golf motif is the theme.  The Master Suite, and Guest Suite both have vaulted ceilings as does the Great Room, which opens onto a terrace with unsurpassed views of the majestic mountain peaks and deep blue lakes reflecting the changing colors of the seasons.  The covered screen porch with fireplace is a wonderful place to contemplate the day’s eighteen-hole adventures.

Let’s not forget the entertainment features essential to full enjoyment of life in your dream home. You’ll see every dimple on the ball on the 84-inch high-definition projection screen television, one of twelve TVs in the home.  They’re just one facet of the built-in digital media experience. You’ll be able to pull up to twelve different media feeds, from satellite radio to high definition TV, as well as tap into a 500 gigabyte music server and separate 750 gigabyte movie server.

Normally, you wouldn’t classify a two-car garage as an amenity, but inside this one is a real jaw dropper—a Maserati Quattroporte.  A one-year lease on this piece of four-wheeled artwork is included in the home’s $3,950,000 listing price.

The Fairway Living Dream Golf Home is a creation of the highly-skilled designers, project managers and craftsmen from BenchCraft Homes who combine for 90 years of home-building experience.  BenchCraft also has an architect, a custom millwork shop, and a landscape crafter, all under one roof.
